Peter and Dot Crumley, and President Leigh Harrison attended the 100th NC Lions State Convention District Governors Banquet on April 27, 2024 in Greensboro. During the evening, our own, Peter Crumley was awarded the International President’s Award from Lions International President Dr. Patti Hill. Please join us in congratulating Peter on receiving this prestigious award. Peter, we are so proud of you and thank you for your many humanitarian acts of kindness!
KidSight!
What a great turnout we had for KidSight on April 11th, from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at the Boys & Girls Club in Beaufort! Lions KidSight USA is a nationwide program bringing Lions clubs across the country together to ensure our children receive eye screenings and follow-up care when needed. We train and mobilize caring people to be able to easily and efficiently screen the vision health of our nation’s youngest, dearest, and most vulnerable children to help ensure they receive early academic and social development success that we all deserve — guided by the fact that 80% of a child’s learning and development requires healthy, corrected vision. We will announce future KidSight Community Screenings here, so check back often!

Adopt-A-Highway | Help Us Keep Carteret County Litter Free!
Another great turn out for the Adopt-A-Highway clean up, this time in support of the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Spring Litter Sweep!
Thanks to the volunteers from the Beaufort NC Lions Club, Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum and Litter Free Land & Sea for the continued support and hard work in keeping this section of Highway 70 clean!

Vision Screenings!
The Beaufort Lions Club hosts FREE Hearing and Vision screening to any in need. The North Carolina Lions Vision Van’s latest visit was at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, 1500 Live Oak Street in Beaufort from 10:00am until 3:00pm on March 15, 2024. Check here or our Facebook page for the next Vision Van date. All are welcome! A big thank you to Dr. Patrick Patterson of Beaufort Vision Clinic (http://beaufortvision.com/) for donating his time.
Eighty percent of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. The first step to prevention is awareness. The second is early detection through vision screening. Around the world, Lions partner with medical professionals and community leaders to screen young children, primary school students, and adults to identify those at risk for vision loss. The venue for Lions’ vision screenings varies from schools, to workplaces, to community health fairs, and the screening methods depend upon the age group. But the results are always the same. Early identification leads to timely referral, professional treatment, and improved or restored sight.
